RetroFix – CCS Retrofit Harness for Tesla Model 3 (Only for Cars Built Before Oct 5, 2020)

Upgrade compatibility with Third Party DC Fast Charging Station on Your Older Model 3

RetroFix is a purpose-built, automotive-grade retrofit harness that enables CCS (Combined Charging System) capability on Tesla Model 3 vehicles manufactured before October 5, 2020. Cars that are manufactured before this date do not have CCS capability from factory. Cars that are manufactured after this date already have CCS capability, this can be verified by going into the software tab in your car and tapping on “additional information”.

This essential upgrade makes it possible to install a Gen4 Charge Port ECU (CP-ECU) — giving your car the power to charge at Third Party DC fast chargers everywhere.

With RetroFix installed, your Tesla opens up to a global network of DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) — from high-speed CCS stations at highways to rapid public chargers in urban settings.

📦 Compatibility & Requirements

• Vehicle: Tesla Model 3 built before October 5, 2020

  • Gen4 Charge Port ECU (Tesla EPC) Part# 1537264-00-B or 1537264-01-B (NACS NORTH AMERICA REGION)

  • CCS adapter (region dependent, available at Amazon)

• Tools:

  • 10 mm socket
  • Screwdriver or trim removal tool

RetroFix doesn’t interfere with any vehicle software or updates and is fully reversible if needed.

RetroFix does not include the Gen4 Charge Port Controller (ECU) or the CCS adapter — you’ll need those items to complete the upgrade. You can purchase the Gen4 Charge Port Controller (ECU) Part# 1537264-00-B or 1537264-01-B (NACS NORTH AMERICA REGION) directly from the Tesla Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) for $140 and the CCS Adapter on Amazon or the Tesla website.

🧰 Plug-and-Play Installation

Designed to be straightforward and service-friendly, RetroFix installs quickly with minimal tools and doesn’t require powering down the car.

Installation Overview:

1. Tools Required:

   • 10 mm socket

   • Screwdriver or trim removal tool

2. Access:
   Remove the right-rear trunk trim and open the carpet behind the charge port while unplugging the trunk light.

3. Swap ECU:
   Remove the old Charge Port ECU by unscrewing the 10 mm bolt.

4. Install:
   Attach the new Gen4  Charge Port Controller (CP-ECU) and plug RetroFix in-line.
   The connectors are keyed — they only fit the correct ports, preventing mis-connection.

5. Finish:
   Reassemble trim panels and perform a “software reinstall” using Service Mode (regular free service mode).

No special configuration tools are needed — RetroFix uses automotive-grade components and retains full compatibility with Tesla systems.
